چکیده
In this work, the fretting crack nucleation of an aeronautical Ti-10V-2Fe-3Al titanium alloy is investigated. The main difficulty when designing complex industrial systems, especially helicopters rotor parts, lies in prediction assembly interfaces behaviour. Those areas can be subjected to loading characterized by a very confined multiaxial high stress gradient, leading fatigue nucleation. This kind failure reduces parts potential lifetime and increases therefore security margin that considered. aim paper provide criterion prevent on contacts configurations. Fretting Fatigue with Cylindrical-On-Flat Contact: Crack Nucleation, Crack Path and Fatigue Life
Fretting fatigue experiments and finite element analysis were carried out to investigate the influence of cylindrical-on-flat contact on crack nucleation, crack path and fatigue life of medium-carbon steel. The location of crack nucleation was predicted using the maximum shear stress range criterion and the maximum relative slip amplitude criterion. The prediction using the maximum relative sli...
متن کاملExtended Finite Element Method for Fretting Fatigue Crack Propagation
In this paper, the extended finite element method (X-FEM) is considered for the analysis of fretting fatigue problems. A two-dimensional implementation of the XFEM is carried out within the finite element software ABAQUS by means of user subroutines, and crack propagation in fretting fatigue problems is investigated. On utilizing the non-linear contact capabilities of this code, the numerical t...
متن کاملIntroduction of a Fretting-Fatigue Mapping concept: Development of a dual crack nucleation – crack propagation approach to formalize Fretting Fatigue damage
Fretting fatigue induced by combined localized cyclic contact motion and external bulk fatigue loadings may result in premature and dramatic failure of the contacting components. Depending on fretting and fatigue loading conditions, crack nucleation and possibly crack propagation can be activated. This paper proposes a procedure for estimating these two damage thresholds. The crack nucleation b...
متن کاملThree-dimensional Simulation of Fretting Crack Nucleation and Growth
Fretting nucleation models and three-dimensional finite element analyses are used to compute the fretting fatigue life for metallic components. The models predict crack nucleation cycles and location(s). Discrete crack growth simulations provide stress intensity factor histories, with multiple, non-planar, three-dimensional cracks possible. The histories are input into crack growth rate model(s...
